How to Get Rid of Dark Circles Under My Eyes
How to Get Rid of Dark Circles Under My Eyes
I’ve been trying to figure out how to get rid of dark circles under my eyes. And I’m assuming, since you’ve come to this page, that you’re doing the same.
So, why do they happen? And what works? I’ve done some research, and here’s what I’ve learned.
There’s a lot of information out there about what causes the problem, but there is little helpful advice on how to get rid of the circles.
Most people believe that a lack of sleep causes under eye circles. Others blame stress for their problem. While these things can contribute to under eye circles, it’s a myth that just dealing with your stress – or getting more rest – is going to make those awful dark circles vanish.
If only it were that simple!
What are dark circles?
Dark circles aren’t a skin condition – they’re actually caused by what’s going on just under the skin, as I’ve learned. Dermatologists say the real problem is that capillaries leak blood just under the surface of your skin and that blood turns a bluish red colour, like a bruise.
Skin under the eye is very delicate and thin, and it becomes even thinner and more transparent as we age. Even worse, over time dark circles can become permanent.
What else contributes to dark circles under your eyes?
Some people are more prone to dark circles because of allergies or nasal congestion. Heredity factors also come into play for some of us.
They also can be a sign that you’re not getting enough water – it’s true that people with glowingly healthy skin need to drink 8 glasses of water a day to keep it that way.
Poor eating habits, smoking, too much wine (or beer or any form of liquor) and too much salty food are other possible contributors.
Sun damage may also be responsible, in part.
Regardless of the causes, dark circles can make you look haggard, tired and older than you are (or want to look). This can become a problem, hurting your self- confidence, particularly in the workplace. Your clients (and your boss) may wonder if you’re up to the job.
Traditional remedies for dark circles under your eyes
One old-time remedy is placing cold cucumber slices or cold tea bags on your eyes and having a lie-down for 15 minutes, which sounds nice, if you have time. These can be soothing, but the results only last a few minutes.
Some women just use makeup to conceal their under eye circles, but who really wants to have to use a heavy concealer, and wonder if people notice? This is not a solution I like because I thought it looked clumpy, and it didn’t last all day.
Find a good eye cream
A good eye cream does more than just brighten the area under and around your eyes. I’ve researched eye creams and found many that promise, but can’t deliver.
One that does seem to do the job is Revitol Eye Cream that’s designed to be good for under eye circles. Users of the product state that it’s an affordable way to get rid of dark circles.
Revitol contains natural ingredients, so it’s not harsh on sensitive skin. Some of the ingredients reduce the appearance of pigmentation, and apparently this is how the product lightens the under eye area.
What I like about Revitol is that it is available – you can order directly from the maker and they ship world-wide. It is made of natural ingredients including botanicals. User reviews say it is gentle, easy to use, smooth and non-greasy and it works for them.
Love this product. I felt like it took years off my face.

I’ve discovered that, even if I could afford it and wanted to risk it, there is no cosmetic surgery that is the answer to how to get rid of dark circles under my eyes.
And no eye cream is a magical cure. But some eye creams can help – and Revitol has the reputation of being one of them.
I’ve just started using Revitol Eye Cream – updates when I find out how it works for me.
