What I Got Wrong About My Nighttime Routine

My nighttime routine was long, expensive, and mostly performed at midnight while half asleep.

It looked committed. It wasn't working.

Short lines. Real lessons. Read it on your phone in five minutes.

And if you make it to the end, I'll tell you the one thing that finally made this easier for me.

None of this is medical advice. It's my own experience plus general skincare education — anything health-related belongs in a conversation with a clinician who knows you.

1

I was layering actives on top of each other

Two strong things on the same night is not double the result.

Usually it's just an irritated face by Thursday.

2

I skipped moisturiser when my skin felt oily

Oily and dehydrated can happen at once. I learned that the slow way.

3

I changed things every two weeks

No product gets a fair trial in fourteen days.

I was rotating so fast I never knew what worked.

“I mistook effort for progress. They're not the same thing.”

The version I do now

  • Cleanse
  • Treat, but only sometimes
  • Moisturise, always
  • Neck too

So here's the part I promised at the top.

The fix wasn't a better night routine. It was a shorter one I could do on the nights I didn't feel like it.

For me that meant stopping the search for a miracle and picking something simple I'd actually keep doing. Addie Health is where I landed, and it's the thing I point friends to when they ask what I'd start with.

It isn't magic and I won't pretend it is. It's just one less decision on a day that already has plenty.
